Justin Bonello at Kichaka

Recently we had the privilege of hosting the crew from Cooked in Africa for a few days. Justin Bonello the star and face of the program and book found himself helping out in the kitchen and learning a thing or two from our executive chef, Haji.

Justin and the team were such a pleasure to work with, very relaxed and down to earth. We figure it helps when you’re in the bush and working on African time with no need to rush and hardly a worry in the world.

This is their fifth season and going strong, the show will be broadcasted on BBC Lifestyle sometime in September so keep your eyes open for the episode where Kichaka is featured; we will also be featured in his new cook book.

Kichaka was selected as one of the 12 venues to be featured in the new season! Selection depends on the venue representing true South African Spirit and Exceptional Quality.

South African Spirit and Exceptional Quality are blended with the great pride and effort we put into the Food and Wine Experience of our guests at Kichaka. It should be no surprise to us that we are internationally recognised for our efforts, but we feel great about it anyway!

In this season, the charismatic Outdoor Cook will present 12 South African restaurants and their celebrated chefs while honing his skills under their expertise. He will then take them out to his kitchen, the South African great outdoors

13 episodes will be aired on BBC Lifestyle in late 2010, which is broadcast locally to almost one million DStv subscribers in Africa and internationally to over 100 countries over a 3 year period.

Justin Bonello has produced 3 seasons of the hugely successful cooking and lifestyle show COOKED and the first season of the Getaway to Africa travel series. In addition, the first Justin Bonello cookbook entitled Cooked In Africa which is published by Penguin is momentarily at number 8 on the Exclusive Books bestseller list.
